Idea with vision – but without a real way to implement it
The basic idea of the Q-Fan was impressive – a circular design fan, reduced to its essentials, almost floating. But the project was technically stalled: material problems, no manufacturable solutions, no clarity on tools or assembly processes.
Carlo Borer, the artist behind the project, was on the verge of stopping everything.
We found this a challenge!
In close collaboration with manufacturers, we selected cost-effective processes, optimized each component for feasibility, and developed fixtures until we had a product with a "wow factor."
Today, the Q-fan is a design icon!

Special tools were developed in-house – this enabled us to generate sharp edges, invisible welds and perfectly fitting components.

Every component was tested – whether it was airflow, the function of the rotary knob, or the fit of the safety guard. Our QA team worked hand in hand with production.
